Georgia Gwinnett College will conduct a test of its emergency notification system around 11:30 a.m., March 7.  Residents of Lawrenceville and Dacula may hear the sirens, which could sound more than once during the test.

The college’s sirens were installed for alerting the campus community about situations presenting imminent, life-threatening danger. This includes tornados and severe weather, violent crime and hazardous material incidents on or near campus.

The public-address capability of the siren system also allows the college to make non-emergency announcements to the campus community.

The emergency notification system also includes text, siren, e-mail and Web notifications.

To avoid confusion, the test will be postponed if there is stormy weather that day.
