Georgia Gwinnett College has named Ned Colegrove assistant director of Athletics for communications and marketing.

Georgia Gwinnett College has named Ned Colegrove assistant director of Athletics for communications and marketing.

He will serve as the primary media contact for the Grizzlies athletics program and provide sports information needs for each of its sports teams. He will also lead efforts on the institution’s athletics Web site, GrizzlyAthletics.com, and help promote the GGC brand.

Colegrove offers a great deal in his new role at Georgia Gwinnett, having worked in collegiate sports media relations, as well as with some of the most iconic sports broadcasting companies in mass media, said Dr. Darin Wilson, director of Athletics.

“Ned brings a wealth of experience to our athletics office and will immediately spearhead our athletics communications area,” said Wilson. “I look forward to Ned having the opportunity to grow our communications efforts and build this part of our athletics program from scratch. He has a tremendous amount of work to do before we open our soccer seasons Aug. 25.”

Most recently a member of the sports communications staff at Georgia State University (GSU) in Atlanta, Colegrove handled day-to-day duties for several of the university’s Division I athletic programs. He performed traditional game day tasks while coordinating events and providing original online content.

In addition to working with the football, basketball and baseball teams, Colegrove was key to the launch of GSU’s sand volleyball program, one of the nation’s first. He also led and executed many marketing efforts within the department and helped earn the school national exposure.

Before joining GSU, Colegrove worked in digital content with Fox Sports South in Atlanta. He covered the area’s professional teams, while also focusing on the SEC and ACC at the collegiate level. He conducted many interviews for print and video with major college football coaches, players and members of the Atlanta Braves.

Previously, Colegrove worked in the production of professional basketball and baseball telecasts with Turner Sports in Atlanta.

He is a graduate of the University of Georgia and the Henry W. Grady College of Journalism & Mass Communication. While in Athens, he anchored television coverage of both UGA sports and Northeast Georgia news. He also spent two seasons broadcasting Georgia high school football on the radio.

Originally hailing from upstate New York, Colegrove currently lives in Atlanta.

“I’m thrilled to begin my new role in support of Grizzlies athletics,” Colegrove said. “I thank Dr. Wilson and the college administration for this opportunity to spread the news of this determined program. It’s easy to see the excitement in the community and beyond that will make telling the stories of our student-athletes a great joy every day. There is a tremendous foundation in place at GGC and I’m eager to get started.”
