GGC awards 455 degrees at fall commencement

Georgia Gwinnett College awarded 455 bachelor’s degrees during its fall commencement ceremony, held today at the Infinite Energy Center Arena in Duluth, Ga. Attended by about 3,000 people, it was the college’s largest fall commencement ceremony to date. As of today, GGC has more than 4,000 alumni.

GGC celebrates pinning of 24 new nurses

Georgia Gwinnett College hosted a pinning ceremony last evening for the second half of its charter nursing class. The group of 24 nursing students will graduate Thursday at GGC’s fall commencement ceremony, to be held at 10 a.m. at the Infinite Energy Center Arena in Duluth.

GGC enrollment increases 5.1 percent

Georgia Gwinnett College continued its growth trend with yet another significant increase. According to a recent enrollment report issued by the University System of Georgia (USG), GGC’s fall 2016 enrollment of 12,052 is 5.1 percent higher than its fall 2015 enrollment of 11,468.  

Small brush fire reported at GGC

A small brush fire has been reported on the campus of Georgia Gwinnett College in Lawrenceville. It is located in a wooded area north of Lonnie Harvel Boulevard, a short section of which is closed to through traffic. 

GGC receives $1.6 million grant for undergraduate research

Georgia Gwinnett College is being awarded $1.6 million by the National Science Foundation to continue and replicate a program that’s been shown to boost student interest in the sought-after STEM fields. One of the college’s largest grants to date, it is being funded as part of a National Science Foundation (NSF) initiative to improve undergraduate STEM education. The grant will be spread over four years.

Several students, faculty and staff were recognized at Georgia Gwinnett College’s fall convocation ceremony, held yesterday. This ceremonial tradition recognizes and celebrates academic achievement and the contributions of those demonstrating excellence in the four pillars of the GGC culture – scholarship, leadership, service and creativity.

GGC’s Wilson named NAIA Athletics Director of the Year

Dr. Darin S. Wilson, director of Athletics at Georgia Gwinnett College, has been named the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics' (NAIA) Athletics Director of the Year for the 2015-16 academic year.
