GGC hosts 2016 Preparedness and Safety Fair

Georgia Gwinnett College welcomed emergency and safety organizations from across Gwinnett County and the greater Atlanta area to campus today for the college’s annual Preparedness and Safety Fair.

GGC highly ranked for its ethnic diversity, affordability

Georgia Gwinnett College was again noted for its ethnic diversity and additionally for its affordability by the U.S. News & World Report (USN&WR) annual College Compass rankings of U.S. colleges and universities. The magazine’s 2017 rankings were released yesterday.

GGC prepares to welcome about 13,000 students

Growth and change are the normal state at Georgia Gwinnett College, and the 2016 fall semester will be no exception. The college continues to make strategic changes to better serve its expanding student body. GGC will see record-breaking enrollment when about 13,000 students begin classes Monday.

GGC’s Wilson named A.I.I. Athletics Director of the Year

Dr. Darin S. Wilson, director of Athletics at Georgia Gwinnett College, has been named the Association of Independent Institutions’ (A.I.I.) Athletics Director of the Year for the 2015-16 academic year. 

GGC awards nearly 150 degrees at summer commencement

Almost 150 students were awarded bachelor’s degrees during Georgia Gwinnett College’s summer commencement ceremony, held today at the Infinite Energy Center Arena in Duluth, Ga. The event was attended by nearly 1,000 people.

First Lady Sandra Deal to speak at GGC summer commencement

Georgia’s First Lady, Sandra Deal, will be the keynote speaker for Georgia Gwinnett College’s summer commencement ceremony. About 150 students will receive bachelor’s degrees at the event, which will be held at 10 a.m., Aug. 2, at the Infinite Energy Center arena in Duluth.

Tyler Yu named dean of GGC School of Business

Following a search, Dr. Tyler T. Yu, professor of economics and accounting, has been named dean of the Georgia Gwinnett College School of Business. He succeeds Dr. Victoria Johnson, who was the first dean hired at the newly established college in 2006, and who will retire June 30. Yu began serving as interim dean several months ago when Johnson transitioned into the role of charter dean.

GGC wins 2016 IMPACT Award in education category

Georgia Gwinnett College has been awarded the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce’s 2016 IMPACT Regional Business Award in the education category. The Gwinnett Chamber honored more than 100 finalist organizations across several industry categories at a luncheon today. Presented by BB&T, the award program is designed to be reflective and unique to the Gwinnett area. 

GGC commissions four U.S. Army officers

When Georgia Gwinnett College held its May 12 commencement ceremony, it more than doubled its number of U.S. Army officers by commissioning four at once, including its first two female officers.

GGC graduates more than 470 students

Georgia Gwinnett College awarded more than 470 bachelor’s degrees at today’s commencement ceremony, held on the college’s campus. An estimated 5,000 attended.
