Georgia Gwinnett College generates more than $464 million for local economy

Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) contributed more than $464 million to the economy of Gwinnett County and the immediate area during fiscal year 2017. This represents an increase of more than $12 million from the previous year, according to a recent economic impact study commissioned by the University System of Georgia (USG).

Chairman of Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners to speak at GGC fall commencement

Charlotte J. Nash, chairman of the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners, will be the keynote speaker for the Georgia Gwinnett College Commencement ceremony Thursday, Dec. 13, at 10 a.m. at the Infinite Energy Center Area in Duluth, Georgia. Nearly 500 graduates are scheduled to cross the stage during the ceremony, the third commencement ceremony for GGC this year.

The University System of Georgia (USG) Board of Regents approved Georgia Gwinnett College’s (GGC) proposal for a new bachelor’s degree program in middle grades education during its meeting yesterday. 

Georgia Gwinnett College earns national nursing accreditation

The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) announced today that Georgia Gwinnett College has earned accreditation for its baccalaureate degree in nursing program. Officially recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a national accreditation agency, the CCNE ensures the quality and integrity of baccalaureate, graduate and doctoral programs in the United States and its territories.

The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia has named the two committees required by Regents’ policy to conduct a national search for the next president of Georgia Gwinnett College. 

GGC dean to step down after 2018-19 academic year

Dr. Thomas Mundie, dean of Georgia Gwinnett College’s School of Science and Technology (SST), has announced that he will step down from his post on May 30, 2019. He will continue to serve SST as a full time faculty member for an additional year before officially retiring from the University System of Georgia (USG).

Georgia Gwinnett College president Stas Preczewski announces plans to retire

Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) President Stanley C. “Stas” Preczewski announced today his plans to retire effective May 2019. Preczewski has served as president of GGC since 2014, overseeing the growth of Georgia’s youngest state institution to an enrollment of more than 12,500.
