GGC to hold fall commencement December 12
Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) will hold its fall commencement ceremony at 10 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 12, at the Infinite Energy Center Arena in Duluth. More than 460 students are set to graduate.
One of those students is senior nursing major Benjamin Coker, who was selected among many applicants as the graduating student speaker for the event. In 2015, Coker learned that his father was diagnosed with stomach cancer. As anyone who has had experience with the dreaded disease knows, the diagnosis made a dramatic impact on his family. The then 20-year-old Coker told his father that he was going to become a nurse. Coker’s promise to his father, who died in 2016, fueled his passion, energy and focus.
Commencement guests are reminded to arrive early due to parking changes at the arena. Event organizers are asking participants to share their graduation moments on social media, using the #GGCgrad hashtag on Twitter and Instagram posts.
For those who cannot attend in person, the commencement ceremony will be livestreamed on GGC’s webpage beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 12.
