Madison Preston, ’21, chemistry, received the American Chemical Society’s 2020 Undergraduate Student Award in Environmental Chemistry. She conducted productive research under the supervision of Dr. Seungjin Lee, assistant professor of chemistry and biochemistry, with outcomes influential in synthesis and application of hydrogels for nutrients recycling from human urine. This is the fourth consecutive year that a GGC student has won this national award.

Dr. Edward G. Simmons, part-time history instructor, contributed two chapters to the book, "The Spiritual Danger of Donald Trump: 30 Evangelical Christians on Justice, Truth, and Moral Integrity." One chapter was written with Dr. David Ludden, professor of psychology. The book is currently on Amazon’s list of best sellers under Christian Ethics.
Dr. Dovile Budryte
Dr. Dovile Budryte, professor of political science, was invited to join the editorial board of the International Studies Association's new, open-access, peer-reviewed journal, "Global Studies Quarterly," launching this fall.
Dr. Ajay Mallia
Dr. Ajay Mallia, associate professor of chemistry, has been named a Fellow of the American Chemical Society in recognition of the outstanding achievements in and contributions to science, the profession and the society.
Dr. Amy Farah
Dr. Amy Farah, associate professor of teacher education, received the 2020 Post-Secondary Teacher of the Year Award from the Georgia Association of Teachers of Family & Consumer Sciences. The award honors her outreach and collaborative work with high school students and their advisors. Each year, she coordinates bringing high school students interested in the teaching profession to GGC for a conference. She also serves on local high school advisory boards as a community partner in education.
