Gwinnett County Public Schools names GGC alum Jamie Garcia Caycho Elementary School Teacher of the Year for 2022

Jamie Garcia Caycho, ’14, elementary education, was named Elementary School Teacher of the Year for 2022 by Gwinnett County Public Schools. While several GGC alumni have won school-level Teacher of the Year awards, she is the first to win at county level. Garcia Caycho is a first grade teacher at Arcado Elementary School in Lilburn, where she led efforts to create a Hispanic parent outreach program that includes professional learning for teachers and community-building and instructional support for families.

School of Science and Technology hosts GGG's first Hackathon on Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing





 

The School of Science and Technology recently organized and hosted GGG's first Hackathon on Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing. The Hackathon included a pre-event training workshop and a competition requiring its 30 participants to design, implement and test a model to predict respiratory illnesses. The Hackathon winner was GGC student Aboubacar Conde, '22, information technology.

Dr. Kyle Huff, associate professor of management, received a grant from South Big Data Hub’s Southern Engagement and Enrichment in Data Science (SEEDS) Grant Program for a proposal titled, “Human Resources Information Technologists and Data Science Core Research.”
