Subject: GGC on track to resume online classes March 30

Dear GGC community,

A week from today, Monday, March 30, we will resume instruction online in response to the University System of Georgia’s (USG) decision that all 26 institutions, including Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) will move to online teaching and learning for all courses for the remainder of the semester.

I am excited that students will again be engaged in learning and faculty will be actively and routinely teaching and engaging with students. It will be refreshing to put our energies into the positive engagement that will take place in the support of higher education through the digital world. It is evident now more than ever that we must engage in the relentless pursuit of knowledge.

As we continue to utilize the modified operations model, the college remains open, with minimal essential staff physically onsite, to ensure continuity of certain services. Additionally, employees who have responsibilities that transition to a telecommuting platform are doing so. Every effort is being made to ensure that we do not miss a beat in our efforts to support student success.

Do your part to stay informed about matters at the college and resources available to you by visiting the college’s Public Health FAQ page, which provides information in a central location. The page will continue to evolve over the course of the online learning period, and I encourage you to check back often.

Like you, I am adjusting to a life of social distancing. While we are physically distancing ourselves, we must not forget to be social in our actions and take care of ourselves and those who are important to us. Use your smartphone and other digital resources to stay connected and communicate on a regular basis. Get exercise, eat healthy foods and engage in other positive behaviors. Most of all, do your part to slow the spread of the coronavirus (PDF). Access the full list of preventive measures and other important information on the GGC Coronavirus (COVID-19) webpage.
