Portfolio manager, Atlantic Capital Bank

Describe what you do and how GGC may have played a role to prepare you for success in your job.
I was fortunate enough to begin a career in banking immediately after graduation as a credit analyst at a local commercial bank. After years of work, I was promoted to portfolio specialist within the company before taking a short break from banking to move to Nashville to work in the healthcare tech industry. In 2019, I made a move back to Atlanta to accept a role as a portfolio manager at Atlantic Capital Bank, which is where I am currently employed. GGC was the place where I learned the basics of finance and accounting, and developed skills in critical thinking, working in teams and delegating tasks. GGC was a place that helped me tap into my own confidence and courage that pushes me to always pursue more in life and my career.

Describe what you hope to do once you've earned your graduate degree and how GGC may have played a role to prepare you for success in your graduate program.
I am also currently an MBA student with a focus in global business, and I intend to graduate during spring 2021. While at GGC, I was fortunate to have an academic advisor who asked me to consider the possibility of graduate studies prior to attaining my undergrad. I never forgot those conversations. After working for four years and gaining more experience, I finally had the courage to apply to grad school and was accepted.

Has your life changed since graduation, and if so, how has earning a degree contributed to that change?
I believe that earning my undergrad degree from GGC boosted my level of confidence when approached by life's challenges. I've grown stronger in my ability to weigh the pros and cons of decisions that will impact my short-term and long-term future.

Why do you give back to GGC through donations and volunteering your time?
I choose to give back to GGC because I can see the huge impact that this school has had on me and the local community, and I believe will have on the entire state. I am choosing to be a part of something larger than myself. It is important that we all reach to help those who have come along with us and those who are coming after us. It will be the work and testimony of the alumni that will make this school great.
