Biography

Dr. Cavalier graduated with a Ph.D. in sociology from Georgia State University in December 2009. Her dissertation,“Working it ‘Out’: Employee Negotiations of Sexual Identity in Sport Organizations” examines the experiences of gay, lesbian and bisexual employees in professional, collegiate and co-ed sport. She primarily studies sport, with a particular focus on gender and sexuality. She has a wealth of college teaching experience at both the introductory and upper levels and earned a certificate of excellence in teaching in higher education as a graduate student. Her current research projects examine community sports, aging and sexuality.
