Biography

Dr. Janelle Disney has a Ph.D. in educational psychology with a concentration in counseling from the University of Alabama. From 2011 to March of 2019, she was a professor in the counseling department at Argosy University, Atlanta campus. She was also a professor in the Department of Psychology at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Disney served as director of Counseling, Scholarships, and Testing; established and was the administrator of the Kay Doré Counseling Clinic for those with low income on the McNeese campus and was head of the Department of Psychology for several years. Her publications and presentations have been in the areas of ethical and legal aspects of counseling and clinical supervision.

Disney's professional leadership activities include membership for two terms on the American Counseling Association (ACA) Ethics Appeal Committee and president of both the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of Georgia (LPCA) and Louisiana Association for Counselor Education and Supervision. She also served as a member of the panel to revise the ACA Code of Ethics from April 2011 to April 2014.

Her most recent honor was being awarded the 2018 Robert O. Stripling Award for Excellence in Standards by the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES). She was in clinical practice for 30 years, working in Louisiana and Atlanta, with her most recent clinical work focusing on issues of the elderly.
