Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week (HHAW) is happening Nov. 11-14, hosted by Georgia Gwinnett College’s registered student organization, Grizzlies Serve. 

Donation drives

There will be two donation drives to support the GGC Care Pantry and the Student Emergency Fund. The first is the SAFC Food Drive School Competition (Nov. 3-21), a food drive between Georgia Gwinnett College’s five schools to support the GGC Care Pantry with their current needs. The second is the Fall 2025 Student Emergency Fund Campaign (Nov. 11-14). More information will be distributed about the campaign, beginning Nov. 11. Learn more about the campaign.

Also, faculty, staff and students can attend and participate in the following events:

Tuesday, Nov. 11

The Pursuit of Happyness: Movie Night (5-7 p.m., Building C, CISCO). Sign up for the movie!

Wednesday, Nov. 12

  • Food and Housing Insecurity Panel (12-2 p.m., Daniel J. Kaufman Library & Learning Center, Heritage) – A panel uniting nonprofits to help students understand the challenges of hunger and homelessness and explore opportunities to make a positive impact. Sign up to attend the panel.
  • Grizzly Thrift Pop-up (2-4 p.m., Building B, Belonging Center) – A student-led sustainability initiative to provide access to clothing to anyone who may need that resource and to help our campus practice sustainability. Builder’s Insurance will host this event. Sign up for the pop-up!

Thursday, Nov. 13

Dividing the Pie: Hunger Banquet (3-4 p.m., Student Center, Private Dining Room) – A banquet that will highlight the wealth disparities between the upper, middle and lower class by serving slices of pizza in relation to the societal class. Sign up for the banquet.

Friday, Nov. 14

Service Day – Students are invited to participate in the service opportunities. Staff and faculty are also welcome to volunteer for the events. Sign up for Service Day.

Please share the above mentioned activities with students and colleagues. Also, if possible, incorporate an extra credit opportunity for students who attend any of the events.
