In spring 2025, Information Technology (IT) made changes to the Zoom license agreement. The changes included a move from unlimited storage to a defined storage amount for cloud-hosted recordings. These changes were necessary to manage licensing costs.
This fall, Zoom cloud-hosted storage usage reached 80% of available licensed storage. To manage storage and ensure continued availability of the cloud-hosted recording feature, IT will begin removing cloud-hosted recordings made between Jan. 1, 2020, and Dec. 31, 2023. Removing recordings from this period will allow recovery of 50% of licensed storage. The removal will take place Nov. 21, 2025.
There is no required action needed from employees unless there is a desire to download a copy of a recording (log-in required).
Please note that all Zoom cloud-hosted recordings are automatically copied to your Kaltura account.
