This week, I am modifying the delivery of our Tuesday update to share a more comprehensive overview of items from the April 14-15 University System of Georgia Board of Regents meeting. The meeting was held at Columbus State University, where I had the opportunity to attend and represent GGC as these items were considered.

As part of our ongoing work with the University System, the Board approved the request to terminate the college’s lease and rental agreement for the parking deck. This action reflects our continued efforts to thoughtfully align our facilities and resources in ways that best support the long-term needs of the institution. The advance rental payment, funded through parking fees, will result in title to the real property reverting to the Board of Regents.

In a separate agenda item, mandatory fees related to parking, health and wellness, and technology were reallocated, resulting in no net increase in fees for our students. These decisions help ensure continued investment in academic quality, student support and institutional sustainability.

The meeting also included approval of tuition and fee adjustments across the University System. For Georgia Gwinnett College, this includes a 1% increase for in-state students and a 3% increase for out-of-state and out-of-country students, along with a 1% increase in online tuition.

The agenda further included approval of our request to award an honorary degree to Ms. Rubye Neal, recognizing her exceptional contributions and impact. This is a meaningful opportunity for us to celebrate a leader whose life and work reflect the values we hold at GGC. We look forward to honoring her during our upcoming May commencement.

Additionally, the termination of the Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology was approved following careful evaluation of program demand, sustainability and alignment with institutional priorities. As with all academic program changes, our focus remains on ensuring that we offer high-quality programs that meet student needs and support workforce opportunities.

While these actions span facilities, recognition, academic programs and tuition, they are all part of our broader commitment to thoughtful stewardship and strategic decision-making. Each reflects our ongoing work to strengthen the college and ensure we are well positioned to serve our students — now and into the future.

Thank you for the work you do each day to support our students and move Georgia Gwinnett College forward. I appreciate all that you contribute to our shared success.

Warm regards,
Dr. Jann L. Joseph
