Based on the forecast, GGC’s campus will be physically closed on Monday, Jan. 26, except for the Residence Halls and Student Center to support resident students who remain on campus. All in-person classes, campus events, and activities are canceled. Because power and internet outages may affect students, faculty, and staff, faculty will not be expected to transition to online or virtual instruction. Doors Open

Doors open 1.5 hours before each ceremony.

Metal Detector

For everyone's safety, all guests are asked to walk through a metal detector upon entry.

Commencement Tickets

Ticket distribution for each ceremony is based on venue capacity and is shared in advance to ensure full compliance with fire safety regulations.

Clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags (maximum 12-inches wide by 12-inches tall by 6-inches deep)

Convocation Center Prohibited Items

Prohibited items must be returned to the patron’s car or disposed of before entering the venue. The items will not be accepted by employees, and there will be no place offered to store any item. GGC Operations reserves the right to make exceptions.

  • Aerosol/pressurized cans including Mace or pepper spray
  • Animals (except service animals)
  • Artificial noisemakers: airhorns, whistles, musical instruments, etc.
  • Balloons
  • Banners, posters, signs, flags and poles
  • Glassware of any kind
  • Glitter and paint
  • Illegal substances, drugs, chemicals of any kind
  • Inflatables
  • Laser pointers
  • Open flames, lighters, etc.
  • Outside food and beverages
  • Projectiles
  • Seat cushions with backs
  • Strollers
  • Tobacco products
  • Umbrellas over 24 inches
  • Weapons of any kind: guns, knives, explosive devices, smoke devices, etc.
     

Ceremony Photographs

Family and friends may take photos from their seats. Professional photographers will be present during the ceremony to capture each graduate as they receive their diploma.

Graduates are provided access to view photographs before purchasing. They are under no obligation to purchase photographs.

A sign language interpreter will be provided during the ceremony. Individuals requiring disability-related accommodations are encouraged to contact Disability Services in advance.
