Monique Coleman

This year’s keynote speaker is Monique Coleman, an award-winning actress, producer, host and humanitarian whose career has spanned more than three decades. Best known for her role in Disney’s High School Musical franchise, Coleman has also made her mark as an activist. She was honored as the first and only United Nations Youth Champion and traveled to 24 countries to shine a light on the most pressing issues facing young people around the globe.

“Martin Luther King’s legacy is one of hope and inspiration,” Coleman said. “He exemplifies what it means to be an activist who makes change through peaceful protests. The impact of his work is felt today.”

JP Peters, assistant director of student outreach and service, said that this annual event helps GGC students to engage in activities for the benefit of the community. At GGC, celebrating the legacy of MLK is an annual tradition that centers around community and service.

“We honor MLK by celebrating his legacy of service to others,” he said.
