Georgia Gwinnett Colleges (GGC) Dr. Ken Horowitz, assistant professor of physical education, and Ashley Still, the college’s emergency management coordinator, have collaborated to integrate hands-only cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) training into the physical edcuation 1101 course, Choices for Life, which is a required course for GGC students. With Still providing faculty training and equipment support, GGC faculty were trained in a private class taught on campus. Fourteen instructors have since taught the module in a designated classroom, supported by GGC-produced video materials, enabling more than 900 students since the beginning of the fall 2025 semester to learn essential lifesaving skills. Campus community members can learn more about AED locations and emergency procedures by contacting the Environmental Health and Safety department at envirohealthsafety [at] ggc.edu (envirohealthsafety[at]ggc[dot]edu).
