Georgia Gwinnett College's Dr. Alvina J. Atkinson, professor of mathematics, received an award of appreciation for outstanding contributions and dedicated service to the American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges (AMATYC) during the AMATYC's 51st annual conference in Reno, Nevada. Atkinson was recognized for her leadership, advocacy and support for mathematics faculty across the Southeast U.S. during her tenure as the AMATYC Southeast regional vice president from 2020-2025.
