Georgia Gwinnett College information technology students earned national awards at the America’s Innovate IT Collegiate Conference, held March 26–28, 2026, in Springfield, Missouri. Students competed under the guidance of Dr. Shuting Xu, professor of information technology and Dr. Evelyn Brannock, associate professor of information technology. Participation was supported through funding secured by Dr. Sean Yang, professor of information technology and information technology department chair, for student and faculty travel.
GGC students earned second place in the Database Innovators Challenge, with Claudio Sandrio and Ethan Boderas, and second place in the Cyber Sentinel Challenge, with Loana Morillo Diaz and Peter Bailey. Morillo Diaz also placed fourth in the Troubleshoot IT Challenge. In the Interactive Digital Media Knowledge Challenge, Wendy Calderon‑Guzman earned first place, followed by Sandrio in second and Boderas in third. Additional top‑ten finishes were earned by Kelechi Ariwodo, Morillo Diaz and Anh Tang.
