Georgia Gwinnett College’s (GGC) Speech and Debate team competed in the Annual Regents Cup Speech and Debate Tournament, April 14-15, 2026, hosted by Columbus State University and sponsored by the University System of Georgia (USG) Board of Regents. GGC's team joined students from across the USG in the International Public Debate Association format of debate, sharpening their understanding of debate strategy and execution. Seven students — Javed Akhtar, Sneha Sebastian, Fiza Khwaja, Matthew Berger, Evelyn Garcia, Rowanne Abuaishej and Angeline Kankam — and coaches Anthony Graf, lecturer of Enlgish, and Jason Palmer, instructor of English, accomplished a successful beginning of the growing GGC Speech and Debate program. The team plans to expand and compete in future events, including the 2027 Regents Cup.
