GGC's Dr. Latanya Hammonds-Odie named ASCB Fellow; receives service award

Dr. Latanya Hammonds-Odie Dr. Latanya Hammonds-Odie

Dr. Latanya Hammonds-Odie, professor of biology, was named a Fellow of the American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB). As a director for the ASCB's Faculty Research Education Development program, she helps underrepresented postdoctoral scientists and faculty at minority-serving institutions by pairing them with more experienced scientists for mentorship on grant applications.

Hammonds-Odie also received a Service Award from the Vanderbilt School of Medicine Basic Sciences' “Juneteenth: A Freedom Celebration,” an event that recognized Black scholarship, leadership, mentorship, service and allyship.
