Dear GGC Community,
Each Tuesday, I use this message to highlight the people, progress and priorities shaping Georgia Gwinnett College. Today, I reflect on last week’s Four Pillars Scholarship Gala, which brought together alumni, donors, community leaders and friends with a shared commitment to supporting our students. The energy in the Convocation Center was inspiring, with a clear purpose: ensuring students have the support they need to persist when unexpected challenges arise.
A highlight of the evening was honoring individuals whose leadership and service exemplify the very best of our community.
We were proud to recognize The Honorable Charlotte Nash with the GGC Community Champion Award for her steadfast support of Georgia Gwinnett College and her extraordinary leadership in Gwinnett County.
We presented the GGC Visionary Award to Clyde L. and Sandra J. Strickland, whose commitment to education is reflected in their passion and generosity. Together, they have made a lasting impact on our college and the broader community, building a legacy that will benefit future generations of students and their families.
And we celebrated Tyler Walsh, Class of 2011, with the GGC Alumni Legacy Award, recognizing the example he sets through his leadership and service.
Equally powerful were the voices of our student scholarship recipients, who shared how scholarship and emergency support allowed them to remain enrolled. Their stories reminded us that behind every gift is a student whose future is being shaped.
Most importantly, the evening resulted in meaningful support for the Student Emergency Fund, raising $210,000 in support of our students.
Through Grizzlies Helping Grizzlies, these funds make a measurable difference, helping students address urgent needs and stay on track to complete their programs.
The gala reinforced that student success extends beyond scholarships. It requires a community willing to step in at critical moments — and that is exactly what we witnessed.
To our donors, sponsors, volunteers and campus community: thank you. Your support and generosity will have a lasting impact on our students and our community.
Thank you for all you do each day to support our students and advance the mission of Georgia Gwinnett College.
Warm regards,
Dr. Jann L. Joseph
President, Georgia Gwinnett College
