Dear GGC Community,
Each Tuesday, I use this message to highlight the people, progress and priorities shaping Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC). Today, I want to share a conversation that reflects the growing energy and impact of Greek life on our campus.
On Monday, I hosted a luncheon with student leaders from our fraternities and sororities, including Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Chi Phi Fraternity, and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. It was an engaging discussion focused on ideas for growth and the continued expansion of Greek life at GGC.
Our students shared how actively they are involved in campus events and how deeply committed they are to service. They also emphasized their dedication to academic success while balancing leadership and service responsibilities. Their passion for giving back, supporting one another and contributing to campus life was evident throughout our conversation.
A key theme that emerged was the importance of brotherhood and sisterhood — and the lifelong friendships and memories being created through their involvement. These experiences are shaping both their time at GGC and the leaders they are becoming.
I would also like to recognize Marcus McRae, director of Student Life and Fraternity and Sorority Life advisor, whose leadership has been instrumental in the growth of Greek life on our campus since its launch in March 2022. With the recent addition of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., GGC now has five Greek-letter organizations and will establish a Unified Greek Council this fall to further broaden awareness of the opportunities and value of Greek life.
Greek life at GGC continues to grow in both presence and impact, contributing to student engagement, leadership development and service. I look forward to seeing how these organizations continue to strengthen their role within our campus community.
Thank you for the many ways you support student involvement and help create a vibrant campus experience for all.
Warm regards,
Dr. Jann L. Joseph
President, Georgia Gwinnett College
