Dear GGC Community,

Each Tuesday, I use this message to highlight the people, progress and priorities shaping Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC). Today, I want to share a moment that reflects our commitment to leadership development and the strength of talent across our campus.

Last week, I had the honor of attending the University System of Georgia (USG) Executive Leadership Institute (ELI) Celebration Luncheon on April 28. It was a proud moment to see Dr. Marieke C. Schilpzand represent Georgia Gwinnett College as a graduate of this highly selective and rigorous program.

ELI is a systemwide leadership development initiative designed to prepare high-potential faculty and staff for senior leadership roles across the University System of Georgia. Over eight months, participants engage in intensive learning experiences, including leadership assessments, peer mentoring, job shadowing and reflective practice.

Dr. Schilpzand’s completion of the program reflects her commitment to growth and leadership, as well as the caliber of professionals we have at GGC. We are intentional about identifying and investing in individuals with strong potential, and it is rewarding to see our faculty and staff continue to grow and prepare for expanded leadership roles.

It was especially meaningful to celebrate this milestone alongside colleagues from across the system and to see the investment being made in leadership development across USG. These experiences strengthen our institution by bringing new perspectives and ideas back to our campus.

Please join me in congratulating Dr. Schilpzand on this significant accomplishment. We are proud of her and look forward to the continued impact of her leadership at GGC.

Thank you for the work all of you do each day to support our students and advance Georgia Gwinnett College.

Warm regards,
Dr. Jann L. Joseph
President, Georgia Gwinnett College
