Biography
Dr. Ali Jon Kooti joined the faculty at Georgia Gwinnett College in 2011, initially serving as an adjunct instructor before becoming a full-time instructor of accounting later that year. He was promoted to assistant professor of accounting in 2024 after completing his Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) at Marshall University. His dissertation explored the relationship between CEO narcissism and audit opinion shopping.
Kooti primarily teaches principles of accounting I and II, and has also instructed upper-level courses including financial accounting and reporting I, accounting information systems, and a newly developed course on artificial intelligence in accounting. Prior to joining GGC, he served as an adjunct instructor of accounting at Georgia Southwestern State University.
His research interests span a range of topics including audit and executive behavior, artificial intelligence in accounting, fraud and forensic accounting, and accounting education. He has presented at national conferences and is an active member of the American Accounting Association.
In addition to his teaching and research, Kooti has led and participated in numerous faculty development workshops through GGC’s Center for Teaching Excellence. He has also co-facilitated professional training programs for external partners including the Georgia Department of Banking and Finance and Peach State Credit Union.
Beyond academia, Kooti has been a committed volunteer with Rotary District 6900’s Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program since 2007, serving in various roles such as counselor, facilitator and guest speaker on topics including conflict resolution, goal setting and perseverance.
