Elmira "Mira" Lewis Hornbeak

Elmira "Mira" Lewis Hornbeak joins the organization as a business coordinator in the Budget and Finance office, bringing more than 20 years of federal experience in roles ranging from budget manager to public health analyst. She has built a distinguished career rooted in financial stewardship, analytical insight and strong program coordination, supporting mission-focused work across diverse federal environments. Lewis Hornbeak was awarded the Global Office’s Customer Service Award for her financial guidance and stewardship of the 62 countries supported by CDC’s global offices.

Lewis Hornbeak obtained a Bachelor’s degree from Mercer University and holds an MBA with a concentration in finance.

As a business coordinator, Lewis Hornbeak supports fiscal operations, workflow coordination and cross‑departmental collaboration, contributing to the office’s commitment to accuracy, transparency and organizational excellence.

On a personal note, Lewis Hornbeak loves exploring the world with her husband. Together, they are avid travelers who have visited five continents and more than 75 countries. She also enjoys visiting her two adult sons, where she jokingly admits they sometimes leave their lights on and drink the last of their juice.
