Biography

Dr. Fred Wayne Gillespie, Jr. joined Georgia Gwinnett College as professor of criminal justice and criminology on Aug. 1, 2011. Prior to becoming part of the GGC faculty, he was assistant dean of Graduate Studies and associate professor of criminology at East Tennessee State University. Gillespie holds a doctorate (Ph.D.) in sociology from the University of Kentucky, and his research has spanned the spectrum in the field, ranging from scholarship on criminological theory and criminal justice pedagogy to empirical studies about attitudes toward police, institutional misconduct in prisons and drug use and abuse.
