Biography

Lionel “Todd” Richardson serves as the occupational safety and health specialist within the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) team at Georgia Gwinnett College. In this role, he designs, implements and maintains comprehensive safety programs that support craft/trade personnel and campus support staff, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and alignment with higher education best practices.

Richardson earned his undergraduate degree from North Carolina A&T State University and holds a Master of Occupational Safety and Health from Columbia Southern University. He brings more than eleven years of experience across general industry, construction and federal safety sectors. Throughout his career, he has earned more than 200 safety certifications and co-authored 12 serious injuries and fatalities publications for a global organization, demonstrating his commitment to advancing safety knowledge and practice.

At GGC, Richardson conducts site assessments, performs risk analyses and translates regulatory requirements into clear, actionable guidance, including standard operating procedures, safe work practices and training materials. He delivers engaging in-person and virtual training sessions and monitors program effectiveness through compliance auditing and incident review, fostering a proactive and collaborative safety culture.

Richardson and his wife are proud parents of four adult children and grandparents in a multicultural family. Outside of work, he enjoys flying drones and listening to biographies and leadership books.
