Biography

Originally from Chickamauga, Ga., Dr. Gilley earned the doctorate in musical arts degree from the University of Georgia in 2009 under the guidance of Dr. Kenneth Fischer. He has held the position of assistant professor of music at GGC since August of 2009 and previously taught at Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Ala. He has performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival, Jazz a Viene, in Beijing, China during Gov. Sonny Perdue's "Governor's Trip to China," and in the Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center in New York and many other venues across the United States. His dissertation "The Works of David N. Baker for Solo Saxophone and Ensemble" examined the Third Stream compositions of composer David N. Baker.
