Starting June 22, Information Technology (IT) will begin the process of formally establishing and administering the college’s Google Workspace domain, “ggc.edu.” This is a required action that will allow IT to offer secure, institution-supported access to AI-powered services and apps available through Google Workspace while protecting the privacy and data of our community.
What does this mean for you?
If you have previously created a Google Workspace account using your Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) email address, you may receive a communication from Workspace Support at Google informing you that GGC is now taking ownership of the college’s Google Workspace. The communication will come from workspacesupport [at] google.com and will use a subject similar to the following:
Subject: [#xxxxxxxx] IMPORTANT: Information about your Google Workspace account
If you receive this message, your existing Google Workspace account associated with your GGC email address may be converted to a personal (consumer) Google Workspace account, or you may be prompted to take action if you wish to continue using your Google Workspace services within GGC’s Google Workspace.
Please read the message and follow instructions from Google carefully. If you choose to migrate your Google Workspace account into GGC’s environment, all files, photos and data become part of the GGC-administered Google Workspace.
Next steps
Once IT establishes ownership of the college’s Google Workspace, additional information on the availability of supported services and apps will be shared.
