Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) will celebrate the start of a new semester in a big way with its annual Fall Kickoff, a campus tradition that welcomes students, faculty and staff to a new semester.
This year’s event will, once again, bring the GGC community together for a day of connection, celebration and purpose, featuring a resource fair, complimentary barbecue and the First-Year Convocation ceremony.
Resource fair and barbecue
Open to all faculty, staff and students
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., all members of the GGC community — faculty, staff and students — are invited to attend the Fall Kickoff resource fair.
Departments and schools across campus will host interactive tables showcasing programs, services and opportunities designed to support success both inside and outside the classroom.
This is a great opportunity to:
- Connect with colleagues, classmates and campus partners
- Explore valuable campus resources
- Discover new ways to get involved
Enjoy a complimentary barbecue lunch served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Whether you are returning or new to GGC, everyone is welcome to participate in this community-wide celebration.
Additional information will be shared regarding faculty sign-up and participation in the First-Year Convocation ceremony.
First-Year Convocation Ceremony
From 2 to 3 p.m. in the Convocation Center, GGC will hold the First-Year Convocation Ceremony, a special event dedicated exclusively to welcoming all incoming first-year students.
Convocation serves as a formal introduction to the academic community and marks the beginning of students’ collegiate journey.
During the ceremony, first-year students will:
- Hear from Dr. Jann L. Joseph and campus leaders
- Receive a welcome from the Student Government Association president
- Participate in the College Pledge
- Take part in the Convocation Medallion Presentation
Each student will receive a medallion symbolizing the start of their academic journey and wear it again at graduation. All new, first-year, freshmen students are required to attend Convocation.
Start Strong. Start Together.
The Fall Kickoff is designed for the entire GGC community, while the First-Year Convocation is a meaningful milestone specifically for our newest students.
Together, these events set the tone for a strong and connected start to the academic year.
We look forward to seeing you Friday, Aug. 14!
