Dear GGC Community,

As part of Georgia Gwinnett College’s (GGC) continued commitment to strengthening student support, institutional compliance and operational effectiveness, I am writing to share an important organizational update regarding the Equal Opportunity (EO) and Title IX office.

Effective June 1, the EO and Title IX office transitioned from reporting directly to the president to reporting to the vice president for Student Affairs. The EO and Title IX office serves the entire GGC community — including students, faculty and staff — and this reporting change does not alter its institutionwide responsibilities. Rather, it reflects the important connection between Title IX operations, student support services and the college’s broader efforts to foster a safe, equitable and supportive campus environment for all members of the GGC community. The updated reporting structure also aligns more closely with the model currently in place within the University System of Georgia.

In addition, two new team members will join the EO and Title IX office June 15.

Adoraeu Jouett will serve as GGC’s director of Equal Opportunity and Title IX (Title IX coordinator). Jouett brings extensive experience in civil rights investigations, Title IX compliance, equal employment opportunity, training and regulatory administration across higher education and state government settings. Her background includes leadership roles with the Georgia Tech Research Institute, MARTA, Georgia State University, Auburn University and the Georgia Department of Transportation. She earned a Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in history with a minor in political science from Oakwood University.

Ciara White will join the college as Equal Opportunity and Title IX compliance investigator. White brings experience in employee relations, compliance investigations, workplace mediation and Title IX investigations, including previous work with Savannah College of Art and Design, the Georgia Commission on Equal Opportunity and Gwinnett County. She holds a Master of Social Science in sociology with an emphasis in education from Grand Canyon University and a Bachelor of Social Science in sociology from Savannah State University.

During this transition, the EO and Title IX office will be temporarily located on the second floor of Building B in rooms 2320 and 2340.

Please join me in welcoming Jouett and White to Georgia Gwinnett College. We are excited to have them join the institution and support this important work on behalf of our campus community.

Sincerely,

Sloan Jones
Chief of Staff and Chief Communications Officer
