It is with heavy hearts that Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) announces the passing of former K9 Officer and GGC Ambassador Ginger Friday, Aug. 8.

Ginger began her K9 journey at GGC in January 2012. Three months later, she was officially sworn in as a narcotics detection K9. In this role, Ginger was a skilled partner and an award winning “Top Dog.” She was also instrumental in several arrests and helped to keep the community safe.
In April 2019, Ginger transitioned into her role as GGC’s “Ambassador,” continuing to serve the community in new and powerful ways. In recognition of her extraordinary service beyond her original purpose, she honorably received the Judge Arthur M. Kaplan First Responder Award.
After a long and distinguished career, Ginter retired in May 2021. However, she remained a beloved member of the GGC community, spreading joy and comfort throughout the years following her retirement.
The campus community is invited to a celebration of Ginger's life 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, in Cisco.
