1. Check Dates and Deadlines

Priority Deadline

Spring Semester – Nov. 1

Application and document deadlines may be extended by the vice president of Enrollment Management Services in consultation with others, if conditions warrant. The Admissions office will communicate date changes to prospective students via the GGC website and other communications.

Deadlines falling on the weekend will be the next business day.

Create your Grizzly Profile to apply online, manage your progress and submit the required $30 nonrefundable application fee. Completing your profile also connects you to your admissions counselor, and offers a personalized application experience, helpful tips and reminders, status updates, and invitations to exclusive events.

3. Review Admission Requirements

Minimum GPA

2.75 cumulative undergraduate GPA from an accredited institution

Note: GPA and GACE requirements are the same for all applicants. There is no distinction between GGC graduates and external applicants for admissions purposes.

Test Requirement

Must have already passed the GACE (Georgia Assessment for the Certification of Educators) content knowledge assessment(s) for their teaching field prior to matriculation.

Degree Requirement

Must hold a bachelor’s degree in a secondary teaching field 

A critical disposition in the practice of teaching is be/coming a reflective educator. The personal statement provides a baseline for MAT candidates’ rationale for entering the field of education and seeking certification in their discipline. Accepted students will be asked to return to this statement at the conclusion of the summer session for additional insights based on the completion of 15 hours.

Please prepare a written statement that communicates your philosophy of teaching: Why are you interested in becoming an educator and what values and beliefs motivate you as an educator? 

Written submissions should be between one and two pages in length, Times New Roman font, with one-inch margins. Use of AI tools is strictly prohibited.
