FAFSA Corrections?

Correct your FAFSA using the Data Retrieval Tool.

  1. Go to FAFSA, select "Make FAFSA Corrections" under the "Returning User?" heading, and log on.
  2. Navigate to the "Financial Information" section.
  3. Create a Save Key and click "Next."
  4. Complete the "Parent Information" section (if applicable).
    1. If eligible, under the IRS Data Retrieval section, select “mother” or “father” and enter that parent’s FSA ID.
    2. Select “Link to IRS.”
    3. Ensure the name listed is exactly as it appears on the tax form.
    4. Enter the tax filing status and address exactly as it appears on the tax form.
    5. Click on “Submit.”
    6. Select “Transfer My Tax Information into the FAFSA” and then click on “Transfer Now.”
    7. Review the transferred tax information but DO NOT change any of the data listed as "Transferred from the IRS". You will receive a message confirming a successful transfer.
  5. Complete the "Student Information" section.
    1. If eligible, select "Link to IRS."
    2. Ensure the name listed is exactly as it appears on the tax form.
    3. Enter the tax filing status and address exactly as it appears on the tax form.
    4. Click on “Submit.”
    5. Select “Transfer My Tax Information into the FAFSA” and then click on “Transfer Now.”
    6. Review the transferred tax information but DO NOT change any of the data listed as "Transferred from the IRS". You will receive a message confirming a successful transfer.
  6. Move to the "Sign and Submit" section, Follow instructions to sign your FSA ID and then hit “submit.”
