In just three weeks, the fall 2025 semester will begin Thursday, Aug. 14, with a celebration welcoming new and returning faculty, staff and students. Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) will host its Fall Kickoff, a signature event marking the official start of the new academic year. This year’s kickoff will feature a resource fair and barbecue, along with the third annual First-Year Convocation Ceremony.

The resource fair is a celebratory gathering that offers a meaningful opportunity to connect with colleagues and peers. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the fair will feature informative tables hosted by various departments and schools, displaying the wide range of campus programs, resources and support services designed to help our community succeed.

Auxiliary Services will serve a complimentary barbecue lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Whether you are new to GGC or returning for another exciting year, event organizers encourage you to attend and be part of building a stronger, more connected campus community.

First-Year Convocation

The third annual First-Year Convocation Ceremony will take place from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Convocation Center. The event serves as the official welcome and induction of all new freshmen into their academic and scholarly pursuits at Georgia Gwinnett College. Just as commencement marks the completion of academic study, convocation marks its beginning.

During the ceremony, new freshmen will hear from GGC President Jann L. Joseph, along with other senior administrators. Coreon Johnson, the 2025-26 Student Government Association president, will deliver remarks and lead attendees in the recitation of the College Pledge, concluding with the Convocation Medallion Presentation. All attendees will receive a freshmen medallion, which they can wear again on graduation day.
