Subsidized loans vs. unsubsidized loans
Both are federal loans and must be paid back. Subsidized loans do not accumulate interest as long as the student is enrolled for at least six hours/semester. Unsubsidized loans start charging interest to the student as soon as the loans are disbursed. If enrollment drops below six hours/semester, the repayment period begins.
Syllabus
A syllabus is an outline of information related to a course that is provided by an instructor. It is given to students at the beginning of the semester. It provides information such as the name of the textbooks, required projects, required reading and research, schedule of exams and other information about the course.
Synchronous
Class modality/delivery method. Students meet regularly online on specific days and times that are on the course schedule.
TOPS
Transfers Optimized and Prepared for Success. A student success pathway of activities and involvement benchmarks for transfer students.
Withdrawal
Withdrawing from courses can only be done after Drop/Add period has ended. It is strongly recommended students consult with their instructor, mentor and a Financial Aid advocate before doing this. Withdrawals affect SAP status, repayment of unearned financial aid, HOPE/Zell Miller Scholarship, Pell Grant and other aid on a short- and long-term basis.
