GGC Grizzly Image Usage
GGC Grizzly, the college’s official mascot, was selected by a student vote in 2008. The bear head logo, used to represent GGC Grizzly, is trademarked and owned by GGC Athletics. It is used by Athletics and Enrollment Management Services recruitment to communicate GGC pride and college spirit.
The Grizzly image or any similar likeness should not be used in academic and/or classroom settings or contexts, including but not limited to official college reports, wayfinding signage, clothing, giveaways or as a substitute for GGC’s official indicia or logo. These guidelines also include the trademarked "G-Claw," which is owned and managed by GGC Athletics.
The Grizzly image is not to be used in any way that may adversely impact the college's image or reputation. It is not permitted on, or associated with, unofficial social media accounts, political parties and organizations, firearms, or depicted on any alcoholic beverages, tobacco, drug or sex-oriented paraphernalia.
Any official use of GGC Grizzly imagery or terminology that is designed to be sold or distributed must have approval through GGC's licensing program before production.
No Paws, No Claws
To maintain a clean and professional identity, GGC does not allow paws, claws, or any variations of bears, in any flyers, posters, emails, clothing or other printed or digital materials. The G-Claw logo, owned and managed by GGC Athletics, is the only claw associated with Georgia Gwinnett College. To use an image of a bear in non-academic materials, please visit the brand site to download approved images of General, our official bear mascot.
General, the Costumed Mascot
The name of GGC’s official costumed mascot is “General.” The name honors the college’s founding president, Dr. Daniel J. Kaufman, a retired U.S. Army brigadier general. Since its unveiling in fall 2008, General has performed at various GGC events on and off campus, including grand openings, conferences, sporting events and festivals, serving as a goodwill ambassador for the institution and promoting college spirit.
General is a light brown colored grizzly bear that wears a basketball jersey bearing the GGC Athletics logo. The costumed mascot program is managed by GGC Athletics.
To use photos/renderings of General for non-academic purposes, such as flyers advertising student life activities, approved images are available for download on the brand webpage.
