Grads Turn Passion into Purpose

Joining ROTC at GGC started as a way to pay for school, but turned into more – a family. “Being a Grizzly has taught me humility,” said Shakira Jean-Jules. “It brought me into a community and handed me opportunities to build resilience.”

At GGC, Kyla Mesa found her purpose and belonging in the nursing program and Honors Program activities. Part of Mesa's college experience also included working in the PICU at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, where she'll begin her career as a nurse after graduation.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Coréon Johnson made the most of his GGC college experience as an RA, Homecoming king, SGA president, Elite Scholars member and Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity member. Already looking ahead, Johnson plans to pursue his master’s degree in business.

The first day Enna Lackey stepped onto GGC's campus, she knew her life would change. Beyond her commitment as a student, Lackey's college experience was fuller than most as a member of the Grizzlies softball team and ROTC officer in training.

Avanti Moore found encouragement and support as an adult learner juggling family, financial obligations and homework deadlines. She moved from "maybe next time" or "you'll get it one day" to not limiting herself and empowered to go for the hard things.
