Emma

Emma is Georgia Gwinnett College’s (GGC) approved platform for sending electronic newsletters to faculty, staff, and students. This service enables users to create, manage and send electronic newsletters on a regular basis (e.g., monthly, quarterly, etc.) to their subscriber lists. Emma is designed to be user-friendly, featuring a drag-and-drop editor and professionally designed templates that align with GGC’s brand and style guidelines.

The best part? You don’t need any coding experience to create polished and engaging emails. Emma makes it easy for anyone to communicate effectively with our campus community.

Do I Need a Newsletter?

If you’re responsible for creating newsletters for your department or organization, email the Communications department for newsletter consideration or request access to Emma. Note that access will be granted only to those who complete the required IT training, “Creating Newsletters with Emma.”

You need a newsletter if:

  • Your school or unit has multiple news items or feature stories to be distributed on a consistent basis. (Recommend monthly or quarterly).
  • Your employees need consistent updates in one centralized communication.

You do not need a newsletter if:

  • It duplicates existing communications channels (e.g., information that can be carried in InsideGGC).
  • It only features events, advertisements or static information (Readers should use the college’s events calendar for campus events.)
  • You only have a small amount of information to share.
  • There is no clear owner or content pipeline.
  • You can’t sustain the cadence of distribution.

Other communications venue to share your news:

  • InsideGGC – The official faculty and staff newsletter distributed three times each week in the fall and spring semesters and once a week in the summer.
  • Your school’s or department’s social media accounts.
  • Acknowledgements and awards shared in Notables.

A listserv is an email list management system that allows groups to communicate through shared email lists. Georgia Gwinnett College faculty, staff, and recognized student organizations may request a listserv, which can include both GGC and non‑GGC subscribers. Lists can be configured for announcements or discussions and may be moderated or unmoderated to support different communication needs. List owners can manage membership, enable self‑subscription options, and choose to maintain searchable message archives or make lists publicly available.
