Learning Spaces

Information Technology (IT) supports audio-visual technology and computers in over 200 learning spaces across campus.

General learning spaces (classrooms) are typically designed to support instructional modalities such as hybrid/hyflex and face-to-face. Most learning spaces are either equipped with the standard features or hybrid/hyflex features listed below.

Standard Features

Standard feature classrooms include a non-height adjustable lectern that has the following:

  • Computer (Windows- OR- Mac)
  • Touch-enabled monitor
  • Document camera
  • Web camera with microphone
  • Ceiling-mounted speakers
  • Wireless presentation capabilities
  • Laptop/device cable connectivity (HDMI/VGA)
  • DVD drive provided with computer
  • Touchscreen control panel
  • Voicelift
  • Telephone

Classrooms may also include:

  • Single projector- OR-Touchscreen display
  • Projection surface- OR- Multi-function whiteboard and projection surface

HyFlex Classrooms

Hyflex spaces feature a rear, wall mounted PTZ camera and ceiling mounted microphones in addition to standard features.

Specialized Spaces

Information Technology supports specialized learning spaces that offer features that expand upon what is typically found in standard or hyflex spaces.

Specialized features may include:

  • Dual projection
  • Group collaboration displays
  • Front, wall-mounted PTZ camera
  • Confidence monitor
  • Remote participant display
  • Executive-style lectern (height adjustable) 

Lectern Software

The computers found in the lectern generally include the following software:

  • Microsoft Office 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote)
  • MS Teams
  • Zoom
  • Web browsers (Edge, Chrome, Safari, FireFox)
  • Kaltura Classroom
  • Respondus LockDown Browser
  • Ink2Go 

Optionally, you may request to have a secondary monitor, blue-ray player, multiple whiteboards, student workstations (windows or mac) or a laptop cart with windows or mac computers. 

Wireless Presentation with AirMedia

Most GGC classrooms and conference spaces support wireless presenting, allowing you to display content from your laptop, tablet, or mobile device on the room screen. Wireless presentations:

  • Uses Crestron AirMedia to connect your device to the room display
  • Works with PCs, Macs, and mobile devices
  • Are accessible from the control panel at the classroom lectern or presentation station

How to Use AirMedia

  • Follow the on‑screen instructions in the room to connect your device
  • Refer to additional setup articles (login required) for detailed guidance

Technology Consultations

What is a Technology Consultation?

A technology consultation is a one‑on‑one appointment with a GGC IT staff member that provides personalized assistance with GGC technology. If you need individual support, scheduling a technology consultation allows you to work directly with an IT professional to address your specific technology questions or needs.

Consultation Services

MyCourses (Brightspace by D2L) 
MyCourses or the integrated tools such as Kaltura, Turnitin, and Zoom.

Software  
IT-supported software such as Microsoft Office/365, Qualtrics, and more.

Digital Accessibility  
Accessible design (creation and remediation), Panorama Remediation Engine, and Microsoft Accessibility Checker.

Classroom Technology 
Classroom hardware such as projectors, touch panels, and document cameras.  

Request a Consultation

To request a technology consultation, visit the Technology Consultations Bookings portal. Select the service that best matches your questions or needs, then choose a date and time. You may select a specific staff member or leave the selection open to schedule the soonest available appointment. Be sure to include a brief description of the topic you would like to discuss to help the IT staff prepare for your consultation.

Instructional Equipment Checkout

Faculty and staff may checkout instructional equipment such as:

  • portable document cameras
  • The portable document cameras are excellent options for sharing (handwritten) solutions with students and displaying textbook content to students via Zoom.
  • The IPEVO V4k is a lightweight, USB enabled document camera that is easy to setup and use.
  • voice lift devices
  • portable projectors
  • Wacom tablets
